Haiti - Education : D-5 of the State Examinations
Wednesday, at a joint press conference, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education accompanied by his Director General, Meniol Jeune, of Renan Michel, Director of the State Examining Office (BUNEXE), of Directror Maxime Mésilas, of the Directorate of Higher Education (DES), of Director Rood Karl Fleurant of the Directorate of Vocational Training (DFP) and Nadine Henry, Director of Basic Education, gave an update on the organization of the State examinations which begin on 3 July.

A total of 227,062 candidates will participate this year in the State exams which will take place from August 3 to 5: West 106,689 candidates, Artibonite 26,298 candidates, North 22,074 applicants, Center 15,300, North West 13,305, South 10,998 candidates, East 10,883, Southeast 8,354, Grand'Anse 6,750 and Nippes 6,411 participants.

Recalling the stakes and importance of State exams, Minister Cadet highlighted the expenditures made by the State and the families for the training of young people who will be evaluated. Concerning the risk of disruption of school principals affiliated to the Universal Schooling Program Free and Compulsory (PSUGO) that require from the ministry the payment of their wage arrears for several months and threatened to disrupt the examinations if they were not satisfied, the Minister said "No person can object to the state examinations," warning all those with bad intentions.

The Minister also issued a warning to all fraudsters, while Renan Michel said that any candidate caught in the act of fraud or behaving in a reprehensible manner will see its copy canceled after the minutes. He also warned racketeers who were trying to extract money from candidates to offer them evaluation texts already dealt with, that the measures were taken and that they would be apprehended and brought to justice for the legal consequences if they dare to defy the law.

For his part, Meniol Jeune, insisted on the strict application this year of safety instructions and in term of forbidding cell phones in test centers.

Nadine Henry, gave some advice to the candidates and invited them to choose the texts either in Creole or in French, recalling that a program with minimum competences had been elaborated to take account of the days of class lost during the academic year...

Schedule of State Examinations :

  • Exams of the 9th fundamental year : from 3 to 5 July ;
  • Exams of Écoles Normales d'Instituteurs (ENI) and of Centres d'Éducation Familiale (CEF) : from July 3 to 7 ;
  • Bac Exams : from July 10 to 13 ;
  • 2nd Special Session for thos taht failed : from 21 to 24 August ;
  • Technical and Vocational Training Examinations (FTP) : from July 31 to August 5.
