Haiti - FLASH : Delivery of 600 Haitian passports to Mexico
On Thursday and Friday in Tijuana, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. , Ambassador Lamothe, in addition to registering requests for support from our compatriots, handed over passports, an identity document indispensable in the process of regularization recalling "We look forward to starting their migratory regularization process because the deadline is September 30 for those who already have more than 5 months in Baja California."
It is for this reason that Ambassador Lamothe visited the State for the third time in recent months to give personalized attention to compatriots wishing to settle in this city. The ambassador confirmed that local companies are willing to employ Haitians provided they are in good standing in the territory, which is why priority has been given to the delivery of passports.
In addition, he indicated that an aspect on which the Haitian Embassy was working in collaboration with the Mexican and Haitian authorities was the access to the Registry of Unique Identifiers of the Population [Clave Única de Registro de Población (CURP)] an unique number, that receives each Mexican citizen, which is essential for the migrants to benefit from the advantages of the formal jobs.
On Saturday, Ambassador Lamothe was in Mexicali to continue the distribution of passports.
On average 400 requests for support from our compatriots were processed every day in both Tijuana and Mexicali, Guy Lamothe said.
