Haiti - Heritage : Partnership between the Ministry of Culture and the Faculty of Sciences of the UEH
The Ministry of Culture and the Geosciences Research Unit of the Faculty of Sciences of the State University of Haiti (FSD-UEH) signed a Convention on the prospecting and promotion of two Major geological sites of the department of Grand'Anse: the "Grotte Marie-Govin" and the "Rock Nan Manmèl". These two sites are located respectively in the communal section of Danglise (Commune of Abricots) and in the locality Mamelle (Commune of Moron).

"This initiative has a two-fold scientific and cultural dimension, consisting in the exploration of two (2) geological sites, namely the Marie Govin Cave and the Nan Manmèl Rock, which constitute case studies for the Ministry using the Geosciences Research Unit of the Faculty of Sciences of the State University of Haiti," said Limond Toussaint, Minister of Culture.

Minister Toussaint clarified that the FSD's Geosciences Research Unit will carry out prospecting studies on these sites and submit the results to the Ministry for their promotion, valorization and use for the purpose of cultural and tourist attractions.

For his part, the Engineer Dominique Boisson, Coordinator of the Research Unit in Geosciences of the Faculty of Sciences, said he welcome favorably this request for expertise from the Ministry. He sees this as an opportunity to help the University respond to its missions affirming "This initiative is for us a new opportunity, a challenge even to play our role of Scientific Research Unit and to put the skills of our teachers and researchers at the service of the Community."

The Dominican Engineer took the opportunity to congratulate Minister Toussaint, to want by this agreement to make the University Community, of partners.
