Haiti - Politics : Moïse commemorates the 226th anniversary of the ceremony of Bois Caïman 15/08/2017 08:57:37 In the presence of the mayor of Plaine du Nord, Paul Willa, the senators of the North, the Minister of Culture, local authorities and representatives of various sectors and organizations of national life, the Head of State praised the memory of Boukman as well as that of the ancestors who allowed Haiti to send the signal of freedom to the oppressed peoples in the world "We have the responsibility to hold high this torch of freedom and to transmit it to our Son and our daughters. We have a great history to preserve," said Moïse, who recalled the feats of slaves in order to free themselves from the yoke of colonization and slavery. He believes that the ceremony of Bois Caïman is a fine example of solidarity and national unity between men and women sharing the same concerns for the land where they had been transplanted. Paul Willa said that the Caïman ceremony represents a moment of joy for Haitians, a unique opportunity for Haitians to come together to find solutions to the problems they face, pleading for a rehabilitation of the "Congrès du Bois Caïman". On their side, the senators of the North, Nawoon Marcellus, Dieudonne Luma Étienne and Jean Marie Ralph Fethière, have all questioned on the road traveled by the Haitians since Bois Caïman "We can disagree and work together to give the right direction in the country," said Senator Nawoon Marcellus. Limond Toussaint, the Minister of Culture, praised the work of the ancestors and renewed his support for the voodooers and all those who struggle to allow the young people of Haiti to discover their heritage of identity. The commemoration ceremony of the 226 years of Bois Caïman was marked by the reading of the Declaration of Bois Caïman, a legacy of freedom, by former Prime Minister Evans Paul. HL/ S/ HaitiLibre
