Haiti - Diplomacy : The American Chargé d'Affaires leaves Haiti
On Friday, August 24, 2017, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Haiti, Brian Shukan, completed his three year assignment at the U.S. Embassy in Haiti. He thanks the Haitian people and the government for their hospitality and partnership. He will miss his friends, Haitian music and the local cuisine. Chargé Shukan transferred his authority to the newly-arrived Robin Diallo.

Mrs. Diallo will serve as Chargé d’Affaires of the Mission until the arrival of an ambassador https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21614-haiti-diplomacy-donald-trump-wants-to-appoint-an-ambassador-in-haiti.html , at which time she will become Deputy Chief of Mission for the United States Embassy in Haiti.

obin Diallo, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, assumed the position of Chargé d’Affaires in August 2017. She will serve as Chargé d’Affaires of the Mission until the arrival of an ambassador, at which time she will become Deputy Chief of Mission for the United States Embassy in Haiti.

Chargé d’Affaires Diallo most recently served as the Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. From 2014 – 2016, she was Director of Public Diplomacy in the East Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau in Washington, DC. She previously served in Afghanistan, the Philippines, Senegal, India, and Malawi, Suriname, and Benin.

She has a Masters of Arts degree from the University of Southern California in Applied Linguistics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in German and a teaching certificate from Michigan State University. Before becoming a diplomat, Robin taught English as a Second Language at colleges and universities in Los Angeles, CA.

Robin was a Peace Corps volunteer in Niger from 1984-1988. She is married, has 3 sons and her passion is horseback riding. She's looking forward to discovering the country and its culture and to working with the people and the government of Haiti.
