On the sidelines of the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations, President Jovenel Moïse, in a video message, urged the population to be calm and cautious as Hurricane MARIA approaches (Thursday and Friday in the north of the country https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22164-haiti-flash-haiti-under-orange-alert-as-maria-approaches.html ) and urges the populations of the departments of North, North-West, North-East, Artibonite (North) and Central Plateau (East) to respect the safety instructions.

He said he was in constant contact with the Prime Minister to remain informed about the situation in Haiti. "The head of government is responsible for keeping the whole country informed at all times and ensuring that the Civil Protection Directorate, the responsible authority for natural disasters, is at work throughout the country."
