Haiti - Economy : Customs officers give 8-day ultimatum to authorities
On Thursday, the Haitian Customs Association (ADH), after the failure of many unanswered procedures, issued an 8-day ultimatum to the General Administration of Customs (AGD), of the Ministry of Economy.

If the customs officers do not get satisfaction on their demands, the ADH threatens to start a temporary stoppage of work of the customs officers throughout the country from Thursday 5 October.

Customs officers (minimum Bac 2), whose salary is 17,000 Gourdes after a nine-month training in customs legislation and the support staff with an average salary of 11,000 Gourdes, are demanding an 80% wage increase of their purchasing power.

In addition, customs officers are demanding special status because of the importance of their mission and responsibilities : fiscal, economic and security...
