Haiti - Social : List of the 10 winning projects of the 2017-2018 PISCCA Fund 26/11/2017 08:01:37

Selected from more than 150 applications following a call for projects launched last July, the 10 winning CSOs were selected for their ability to implement sustainable and innovative local development projects on the five priority themes citizenship, sport, youth, media and gender.
List of the 10 winners of the 2017/2018 PISCCA Fund :
- Group of Reflections and Studies for Local Development :
Project to support the citizenship education program of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP): Cap-Haitien / North
This project aims at the training of 20 executives of the Departmental Directorate North of the MENFP that will be distributed in ten schools of the department to strengthen the teaching of the module for education for responsible and active citizenship provided for in the high school program. In addition to this training component, this project also provides for the organization of conferences and the broadcast of radio and TV programs to raise the awareness of young people and their parents about the issues of living together..
- Saint Louis Sports Club :
Foot and citizenship : Tabarre, Pétion Ville, Cité soleil / West
The aim of this project is to create a football school offering a civic learning space to out-of-school children from disadvantaged neighborhoods. In this context, citizenship training will be provided to promote living together and contribute to a more just and equitable society around values such as respect for the law, the rights and duties of the citizen, the fight against discrimination, the environment, etc... These actions will align with the citizenship training program of the Ministry of National Education.
- Défenseurs Plus :
Awareness raising and advocacy against violence against women : Lascahobas / Centre
Implemented in 3 communes of the Plateau (Lascahobas, Savanette et Belladère),.
This project will focus on: sensitizing communities against violence against women and promoting their social, economic and political rights; strengthening the Center's Observatory on Violations of the Rights of Women and Girls; and finally advocate for the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), ratified in 1981 by the Haitian Parliament but often unknown.
- SineNouvèl :
2nd edition of the International Film Festival "Nouvelles Vues Haïti": Port-au-Prince and Jacmel / West and South-East
Created in 2016 by an association of Haitian artists, Nouvelles Vues is the only international film festival currently in Haiti. Organized in May 2018, its 2nd edition will screen more than thirty Haitian and foreign films, most of them unpublished, in different cultural spaces but also on the facades of former movie theaters such as the Rex. Training sessions for young film professionals and workshops open to the public and facilitated by filmmakers will also be offered.
- Francophone Association of Ecological Neighbors :(Port-au-Prince / West)
Promoting citizenship and solidarity in the neighborhood of Solino, this project aims to raise awareness of environmental problems and solid waste management through various training and lifelong learning actions. It includes the recruitment and training of some 100 young volunteers to create a community clean-up network and mobilize the local population to clear the canals.
- Women's Rally for Community Development :
Assistance and reintegration program for women prisoners (Pétion-Ville et Cabaret / West).
This project, in addition to a health assistance component aimed at improving the living conditions of incarcerated women, this project includes the establishment of a system of reintegration of these women after their release through various vocational training as well as personalized job search assistance so that they can support themselves while minimizing the risk of re-offending.
- Research and Culture Association for Social Change Three / Hundred / Sixty :
Support for the influence of the print media in Haiti through the review Trois / Cent / Sixty : Port-au-Prince, Cap Haïtien, Gonaïves, St Marc, Jacmel / West, North, Artibonite, South East
The objective of this project is to strengthen access to knowledge and culture through reading and debate through print support of future issues of the multidisciplinary journal Trois / Cent / Soixante, the organization of meeting and reflection spaces around the contents of the magazine in Port-au-Prince and in the provinces and the setting up of a network of independent distributors likely to strengthen the presence of the print media in the provinces.
- Youth in Development
Sport as an education and support tool :
This project, based on playdagogy, an educational and recreational method based on the sport, this physical education program aims to promote the citizenship of the youth of Aquin (south) through their participation in games and activities organized in collaboration with schools in the area and supervised by certified instructors and pedagogical referents. The aim is to facilitate the personal and social development of young people while encouraging them to take an active part in building a just and inclusive society.
- Organization for the integration of disadvantaged young people of Carrefour-Feuilles :
(Carrefour-Feuilles / West)
Designed in partnership with the ATEK association and Axiom Graphik, this project to raise awareness among young Haitians on the rights of the child includes the production of television programs that will be broadcast as part of the Jeunesse "Place aux enfants" program on Télé Caraïbes. Hosted by young presenters, interactive TV debates in which viewers can take part will also be organized in the presence of children's rights experts.
- Association for the Empowerment of Haitian Women with Reduced Mobility :
Capacity building of 40 women and girls with reduced mobility: Port-au-Prince / West Aiming at the empowerment of forty women and girls with reduced mobility.
This project provides for the organization of professional training in fields as diverse as troubleshooting cell phones, sewing or even shoe repair. Micro-enterprise training modules (accounting, management, etc...) nd technical support will also be provided to these people with disabilities.
Amounting 470,000 US dollars, the PISCCA fund is a new instrument aimed at strengthening civil society in Haiti. Its objective is to bring out CSOs that can intervene effectively on the ground, in coordination with the State services, local authorities and external stakeholders.
