Haiti - PNH : New Departmental Director of the West
This week, Divisional Commissioner Berson Soljour, former Departmental Director of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in Grand'Anse was installed as the new Departmental Director of the West (DDO). He replaces Divisional Inspector Alain Auguste who has been in office for less than 10 months.

Note that this installation comes after the burrs (recognized by the Prime Minister https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22779-haiti-security-operation-grand-ravine-the-pm-recognizes-police-burrs.html ) during the anti-gang operation in Grand-Ravine, which mobilized 260 police officers from several specialized units and resulted in the death of 8 citizens.

In his intervention of circumstance, the new Director Soljour promised to make of the department of the West a model in terms of reception of the public, respect for human rights, a reference in security and discipline. He claimed that with his men he would track down crimes and misdemeanors, and bring criminals to court.

In order to strengthen the capacity of the Departmental Police Judicial Service (SDPJ) and the investigation services of the police stations, he referred to a training program to be prepared and implemented in partnership with the Police Academy and Minujusth and also wants an increase in plainclothes police he considers clearly insufficient.

He also wants to set up an information service that will collect, process and disseminate information to police authorities...
