Haiti - Elections : Michel Martelly speaks of
The Candidate Michel Martelly is arrived yesterday at 8:45am (local time), accompanied by five persons, at the airport Joaquin Balaguer, where he received all the attentions of the protocol. During this visit of several hours, the candidate met with representative thes of business community and the Haitian diaspora.

During his visit yesterday in the Dominican Republic, Michel Martelly explained that the situation in which the population was in his country, was due to the fact that the leaders had favored their interests ahead of those of the population. Recognizing that the Dominican Republic was the first country to provide assistance to the Haitian people after the earthquake in January 2010 he believed that both countries had overcome all historical difficulties and has expressed his gratitude to President Leonel Fernández and the Dominican private sector for the construction of a university in Haiti as part of reconstruction. He stressed the necessity to strengthen the private sector activity and create jobs for more than 80% of the Haitian population that is unemployed. In this regard, it considers necessary to promote investment for new businesses and industries.

In an interview on radio station Z-101, the candidate martelly who defined himself as "a third force" has explained he was exploring the possibility to establish an aliance with sectors of the ruling party, INITE. Stressing that such an alliance "would present a solid alternative to Mirlande Manigat [...] if we make an alliance with someone, it is imperative that it shares our views" he added.

Alluding to the surprise arrival of former President Jean-Claude Duvalier, the candidate Martelly has wished to specify that in the current political context "this was not a good idea to have allowed Duvalier to return to Haiti" insisting on the immediate need "to reconcile the people of Haiti, because society is deeply divided".
