Haiti - Security : Towards the creation of a university police force 08/01/2018 08:01:11
The Communication Unit of the State University of Haiti (UC / UEH) meeting in extraordinary session at the end of December 2017 adopted, after consideration, a resolution asking the Executive Council to take all the necessary measures to give the entry and control of the premises to the legitimate authorities of these entities and to guarantee their safety and that of their community and to request, as soon as possible, a police presence in the premises of the Faculty of Human Sciences and the Faculty of Ethnology to restore order, until further notice. This force will be initially formed by University security officers who have been selected on a basis of competence and credibility. He indicates that these security officers are currently undergoing training at the National Police Academy, after having successfully passed an examination and a process of verification of their antecedents by the National Police of Haiti (PNH). Pointing out that until the end of their training, the PNH will be present at the Faculty of Human Sciences and at the Faculty of Ethnology in support of the security service of the University.
