Haiti - Economy : The Association of Haitian Caisses Populaires adheres to the World Council
The World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) Board of Directors unanimously approved the membership application for the Association Nationale des Caisses Populaires Haitiennes (ANACAPH).

"We are pleased to welcome ANACAPH to our membership base and encourage their active participation to strengthen the global credit union movement," said Brian Branch, World Council president and CEO.

Let's recall that the ANACAPH was established in 1998 to provide representation, advocacy, governance, IT support, education, technical assistance and training to its affiliates. It has 49 credit union affiliates with 763 thousand members and total assets of US$96 million.

Credit unions in Haiti are supervised by the Central Bank of Haiti.

ANACAPH will access World Council advocacy support as well as research and innovative approaches to developing new products and services.

World Council currently works with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Haitian credit unions to introduce personal mortgages for affordable and safer housing for members. World Council also works with USAID and credit unions in Haiti to introduce new savings products, as well as mobile service delivery channels.
