Haiti - Earthquake 2010 : Message from the Minister of the Interior 14/01/2018 06:52:45
Message from Minister Saint-Albin / "This January 12, 2018, recalls the tragic event of the earthquake that hit hard the families and structures of our country. However, next to the memory of our dear and dear missing, we must note the resilience of the Haitian people who, despite the natural and anthropogenic hazards, stands and undertakes to build its life and continue the course of its history. Actions of recovery, in the neighborhoods, in the communes are the testimony of this undeniable will. In the heart of the political and economic capital of the country, the administrative city, symbol of reconstruction begins to take shape, with among others the construction of the Palace of Justice, the Ministry of Commerce, the Interior and Territorial Communities. The MICT, through its Directorate of Civil Protection, is making enormous efforts to raise awareness of the behaviors and actions that save, as well as to strengthen the various civil protection structures throughout the country, with a view to preparing our citizens to face possible disasters. As we think of those who have unfortunately left us, reconstruction is still more, a mental parameter. We must agree to work to ensure that 12 January 2010 is the starting point for responsible and sustainable development of Haiti. The hour more than ever is at work, solidarity. It is also an opportunity to draw the attention of our fellow citizens to the need to be and above all the first protectors of their lives and their property, in the way of building and in the choice of their construction zone. On my own behalf and on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior and the entire Government, I send words of comfort to all Haitian families and renews the commitment of MICT to be a permanent relay of the principles and instructions for education, awareness and prevention and risk and disaster management. Finally, I also express the unwavering commitment of the Administration Moïse-Lafontant to be always at the listening and alongside the Haitian people in good and bad times. Thank you !"
