Haiti - Football : The FHF is frustrated, the Jamaica explains...
The facts:
The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) has informed Tuesday night, the CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) that it is no longer able to maintain are Men's team under 17, for the playoff of the U17 World Cup of Montego Bay (Jamaica), because of an illness that struck members of his delegation.

Version of the FHF :
It is with sadness and frustration that we are letting our fans know that the U17 national team has been forced out the World cup Qualification by the Jamaican Government. Two of our players are infected with malaria, yet this disease cannot be spread by human contact.

This frustration comes due to a lack of respect towards our ambassadors. Our players are isolated, close in rooms guarded by soldiers, no access to outside communication, food nor water.

As of this moment, we are still not allowed to leave by commercial plane and are waiting for a charter flight to Haiti.

Version of the Jamaica :
The Ministry of Health has confirmed three imported cases of malaria among members of the Haitian under 17 football team who are in the island to participate in CONCACAF. The persons are currently being treated. Other members are displaying symptoms of the illness and are also being treated.

The Ministry has recommended that in the circumstances they do not participate in the tournament and therefore return to Haiti. These arrangements are presently being made.

The Ministry has implemented its surveillance system to be able to quickly identify and treat any other cases. Vector control measures, including fogging of adult mosquitoes have also been put in place.

There have been no locally transmitted cases of malaria since the start of the year.

Learn more about malaria :
Malaria is transmitted when a female Anopheles mosquito, infected with a malaria parasite bites an individual. Symptoms include fever, chills and headaches, muscle aches and tiredness.
