Haiti - National Carnival 2018 : Partial Assessment of the Government
Friday, February 16, 2018, at the official residence of the Prime Minister was presented at a special press conference, a partial assessment of the National Carnival that took place in Port-au-Prince https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-23586-icihaiti-carnival-2018-rediscover-in-pictures-the-floats-and-costumes.html where it has been a question of security, health and tourism.

It was explained at the security level, that a Security Command Center, coordinated by Max Rudolph Saint-Albin, the Minister of the Interior together with the Office of the Secretary of State for Public Security and the Directorate Civil Protection, thanks to 28 fixed cameras and a drone service deployed on the carnival route allowed the permanent surveillance of the crowd. It was stated that during these 3 days, 65 people were arrested and that the Procuratorate of Port-Prince who was present on the carnival route, is already working on the files of those arrested.

In terms of the management of emergencies and relief, the concerned explained that an Emergency and Relief Committee had been set up under the high patronage of the First Lady. This Committee consisted of the Office of the First Lady, of the Ministries, of Health, Youth, Social Affairs, and Justice as well as the Office of the Secretary of State for Public Security, the Haitian Red Cross, City Halls, the Office of Accident Insurance of the Work, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA). 13 health posts, 23 ambulances, more than 200 first responders, about 100 doctors and nurses, 10 psychologists, of agents of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR) and more than 1,000 brigadiers were mobilized. "Haiti is a great cultural power and we have just experienced a very strong moment throughout the country during the carnival of change," said Prime Minister Lafontant, while congratulating the National Carnival Committee and being satisfied with the whole machine that was set up to achieve the goal of zero deaths and no debt for the state after Carnival.

At this special conference, took part Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant, Ministers Limond Toussaint (Culture), Marie Greta Roy Clément (Health), Max Rudolph Saint-Albin (Interior), Stéphanie Auguste (MHAVE), Jessy Menos took part. (Tourism), Secretary of State for Public Security, Léon Ronsard Saint-Cyr, Director General of the Ministry of Culture, Jean Michel Lapin, Director General of the Ministry of Communication, Calvin Cadet, Government Commissioner, Me Ocnam Clamé Daméus and the Departmental Director of the West of the National Police of Haiti (DDO), the Commissioner Berson Soljour.
