Haiti - Politic : Towards a support of victims of the Hyppolite Market fire
Monday the Interministerial Commission in charge of assisting the merchants affected by the fire of the Hyppolite Market (Iron Market) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23556-haiti-flash-the-iron-market-ravaged-by-a-fire.html took stock of the measures taken by the Government in order to support the victims.

Created on the recommendation of President Moïse https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-23557-icihaiti-politic-president-moise-in-solidarity-with-the-victims-of-the-iron-market.html this Commission is composed of representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI), Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), the Women's Affairs and Women's Rights (MCFDF), the National Office of Insurance (ONA) and the Social Assistance Fund (CAS).

According to the Minister of Commerce Pierre Marie Du Meny, President of the Commission, the work of registering of merchants victims is under way with a view to quickly provide an allowance for them to quickly recover.

Stéphanie Auguste, the Minister of Social Affairs reminded the merchants affected to bring their National Identification Number (NIF) or their National Identification Card (CIN) to allow the Commission to continue the census process.

Chesnel Pierre, the Director General of ONA, confirmed that he will intervene quickly to give an allowance to the victims. He informed that an Internal Committee was already at work and recalled that the ONA could also lend money to the victims at preferential rates, while granting them a stay pending the economic recovery of their trade.

For his part, CAS Executive Director Woodly Simon spoke of a case-by-case analysis of victims to determine the amount to be allocated, as well as the duration of the assistance.
