Haiti - Education : The fight for gender equity must begin at school 14/03/2018 09:34:53 According to current official figures, Haitian girls are more numerous at the fundamental level (53%) however, their number begins to drop from secondary due to, among other things, the stereotypes of domestic chores which are incumbent on little girls whereas boys are more free to play and study. "Foi et Joie Haïti" believes that school plays a fundamental role in the reproduction of practices and prejudices attached to it. At the same time, it can be a space for reorienting sexist visions and demonstrating equity between women and men. In this context, the organization offers since the beginning of 2018 training around sexual education to teachers and parents in the West. The struggle for equity must take into account family-school and school-community relations. This other form of socialization is necessary in the process of deconstruction of sexist stereotypes in both parents, teachers and children, says "Foi et Joie Haïti". HL/ HaitiLibre
