Haiti - Politic : The Caravan of Change lands on Île-à-Vache
Friday heavy machinery began to arrive at several sites on Île-à-Vache. On Saturday President Moïse proceeded, as usual, to the distribution of materials and equipment to the local authorities of the commune of Île-à-Vache, as part of the Caravan of Change.

The ceremony was held in the commune of Madan Bernard, in the presence of the mayor of the Ile-à-Vache, Amazan Jean-Yves, Ministers Max Rudolph Saint-Albin (Interior), Colombe Emilie Jessy Menos (Tourism), Pierre Simon Georges (Environment), Carmel André Béliard (Agriculture), Eunide Innocent (Status of Women), Aviol Fleurant (Planning), Stéphanie Auguste (Social), Senators of South François Sildor and Hervé Fourcand, MP for Ile-de Clauvis Obas and Directors General of the Ministry of Public Works, the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), the Electricity of Haiti (EDH) and the Public Enterprise of Promotion and Social Housing (EPPLS).

The Head of State said he understood the situation of the population of Île-à-Vache and promised to tackle energetically a set of problems fgaced by the inhabitants. He also announced a whole train of projects to implement in order to facilitate the interventions of the Caravan of change in this commune which has 26 neighborhoods for a population estimated at about 15,000 inhabitants.

The delivery to Île-à-Vache of this large fleet of equipment consisting of graders, compactors, excavators, tipping trucks, etc... will allow according to the Head of State, among others the start of works of complete repair or rehabilitation of several drinking water systems https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10909-haiti-social-the-population-of-ile-a-vache-will-finally-have-access-to-drinking-water.html , of road contruction, of major electrical and agricultural infrastructure... without giving details on these projects, which would have seen the complementarity with the work already done under the Martelly Government.

The mayor of the commune Amazan Jean-Yves, evoked a set of urgent areas of intervention to be taken into account and expressed the hope that all sectors of the population of Île-à-Vache will mobilize as one man as part of this vast operation that will be conducted on the island.

Alongside this distribution, Moïse visited the Madan Bernard Market (built in 2013 and unfinished) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-8992-haiti-economy-construction-of-a-covered-market-on-ile-a-vache.html , the Sylvio Claude high school still under construction and distributed seedlings of fruit trees, including coconut trees.

According to the Head of State, this equipment will serve not only to make Île-à-Vache a real tourist area, an ecological island that will do the honor to the Haitian people, but also to attract Haitian and foreign investors.
