Haiti - Chile : A trafficking network of Haitian migrants dismantled 21/04/2018 09:02:43
According to Cynthia Contreras, Head of the Migrant Trafficking Brigade, the scheme updated last March allowed Haitians to travel through three travel agencies in Santiago against US $2,000 to obtain their plane ticket, reservation of hotel, US $1,000 guarantee and what to say to stay in Chile and regularize. Arrived in Chile, the customer did not go to the hotel and had to return the US$ 1,000 borrowed to meet the Chilean requirements. According to Cynthia Contreras many Haitians have been cheated in this operation of traffic with false contracts of work.
