Haiti - CARICOM : 21st meeting of the Council of Ministers of External Affairs 10/05/2018 09:53:02 The 21st meeting focused, inter alia, on migration issues, hemispheric political, economic and trade developments, relations between CARICOM and its bilateral and multilateral partners, banking correspondence, of post-Cotonou ACP-EU relations, which is of great interest for the region in general and for Haiti in particular, which holds CARICOM's rotating presidency until 1 July 2018. In his speech, Chancellor Rodrigue reaffirmed the strong commitment of the Moïse-Lafontant administration to make every effort to enable Haiti to complete its integration into CARICOM and to participate actively in all its activities, but also and above all to contribute to the achievement of all the objectives set by the regional organization has been set for the coming years. Antonio Rodrigue also expressed the wish that CARICOM strengthen and deepen its relations with all its partners at regional, hemispheric and international level among others : the United States, Canada, the European Union, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), to help overcome the main challenges facing CARICOM in disaster prevention and management, the fight against the effects of climate change, wealth and job creation, poverty reduction, the fight against transnational organized crime and the implementation of programs and projects aimed at achieving development objectives United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. On the sidelines of the Meeting, Minister Rodrigue signed, on behalf of the Government of Haiti, the Agreement Establishing the Caribbean Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE), an approach that is in line with one of President Moïse's flagship programs aimed at providing the entire national territory with energy in about 14 months ... He also held bilateral meetings with representatives of Norway and Romania, of Canada and the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for International Migration.
