Haiti - Flag 215th : «Thanks to the Haitian epic, humanity becomes universal» dixit Jovenel Moïse 18/05/2018 19:09:34
After the national anthem, the raising of the two-colored flag, the religious ceremony (thanksgiving mass followed by the Te-Deum) at the Church of St. Pierre of Archaie, President Moïse delivered his speech on the stand official. Extract from the speech of President Jovenel Moïse : "[...] 215 years ago our ancestors gathered here in Arcahaie for creating our Bicolore, May 18, 1803. Do we realize, is that today we understand where we are today, what does this event represent for us for every Haitian present here ? [...] It is time for the truth to burst forth, it is time for this truth to enter the minds and hearts of all Haitians, Arcahaie is the historic city where the freedom fighters have won the victory over the colonial and slave system that made people of beasts [...] the wealth that all must have is freedom. It is in the name of freedom, of humanity that our ancestors have put aside all that divides them, differences of colors and social, wealth, to unite in the union we made 1803 [...] they rejected division to gather. [...] Haitians do you understand the acts of our ancestors in 1804 ? The bell rings so that word is said, so that the truth gushes, Christophe, Petion, Clervaux, Gejfrard, Vernet, Capois, Gabart ... [...] I ask Captain Dieudonné to command the troops [...] [Platoon of Honor] These names we must never forget them [...] Today it is in Arcahaie that our ancestors took great decisions to change the road of history, how the world is organized. It is not only freedom, a free nation, an independent nation that they have created, the Congress of Arcahaie, the Battle of Vertières it is the path of freedom for all peoples on the earth without difference color [...] When in a country we hear that democracy is established as a political regime, when people claim their rights we must say, Haitian we worked for that [...] Thanks to the Haitian epic humanity becomes universal, this is a truth that no one can forget, by its history, its culture and its climate, Haiti has everything a people needs to be prosperous if only we were conscious. We have everything to be rich, what do I say we are rich [...] We must not be afraid to dream, we must not be afraid to dream big and of beautiful things.
