Haiti - Politic : The Head of State on tour in the Northeast
Thursday, Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by Senator Wanique Pierre (PHTK), the Director General of the Ministry of Communication, Calvin Cadet and local authorities, visited the department of North-East, including Morne Rose, in the Commune Perches to learn about the progress and opportunities offered to the inhabitants of the area through the project "Support for the Valorization of Northern Agricultural Potential, Economic and Environmental Security" (AVANSE) which is currently his last year.

Remember that the AVANSE project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for more than $ 80 million over 5 years https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-8838-haiti-agriculture-$87-5mm-for-agricultural-development-in-the-north.html under the Martelly Government and implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.

AVANSE aims to increase the agricultural incomes of 20,000 farm households in the rice, banana and cocoa sectors to ensure that farmers can access irrigation, agricultural training and technology.

AVANSE's agroforestry projects stabilize hillsides and watersheds, while the reopening of farmer schools and assistance to farmers provides agricultural training.

The project is intended to develop sustainable, sustainable and significant economic growth in an area with high agricultural production potential composed of North and Northeast. This large-scale project also reduces soil erosion by motivating people in the area to cultivate the land upstream.

Subsequently, the Head of State visited several farms specializing in the production of chicken and bananas at Trou du Nord.
