Sunday, Gabriel Fortuné, the mayor of the commune of Les Cayes elected 2 years ago, confirmed the rumors circulating on social networks, officially announcing his resignation at the head of the Communal Council.

According to Mayor Gabriel Fortuné, that one believed to be above pressure, this decision was taken to protect her only daughter that protesters attacked at her home last week.

The mayor said he will remain at the head of the communal administration for a short period to manage the day-to-day business and asks the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities to take the necessary measures in the shortest time.

Fortuné accuses entrepreneurs and some traders in the city of manipulating the protesters and being hidden behind the violence against him and his daughter.

Gabriel Fortuné, who draws a fairly positive assessment of his administration, does not intend to reconsider his decision, despite the announcement of demonstrations of support, explaining that between his job and his family, he chose his family.
