Haiti - Politic : The fate of 130,000 illegal Haitians in Chile on the agenda of the Minister of the Interior 13/06/2018 08:31:38
At the beginning of the week Jean Marie Reynaldo Brunet, the Minister of the Interior received at his Offices, the visit of the accredited Ambassador of Chile in Haiti, Patricio Utreras Diaz.
In particular, the situation of some 200,000 immigrant Haitian compatriots in Chile, including 130,000 in illegal migration, that must be regularized before July 2019. Minister Brunet took the opportunity to announce to the Chilean Diplomate, the participation of his Ministry in a "Task force", responsible for finding an official and rapid response to the regularization of Haitians in Chile including facilitating their access to administrative documents (certificates of good life and morals among others) to regularize their migration situation.
In addition, the following topics were discussed: cooperation in education and higher education; the support of Chile to Haiti in the field of Civil Protection and the strengthening of emergency services and the establishment of terms of reference for the training of firefighters in Chile.
Minister Brunet, who considers these exchanges beneficial for the improvement of friendship relations and the strengthening of cooperation, reaffirmed his will to work together for the harmonious development of the relations between the two countries and assured that the points evoked deserving of an early response from the Government of Haiti will be reported to the next Council of Ministers.
