Haiti - FLASH : Resignation of the Prime Minister Lafontant !
Saturday, the interpellation session of Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant which was to start at 10:00 finally began shortly after 1pm following the roll-call which was attended by 61 deputies, the quorum being verified (60 to have quorum), the Prime Minister's interpellation session was able to begin, with the risk that the quorum would be reversed at any time.

Just after the start of the session, Deputy Gary Bodeau posted on Twitter "The Chamber of Deputies is at the crossroads of history and must take its responsibilities."

At around 1:30 PM, Prime Minister Lafontant and members of the government arrived at the Chamber of Deputies.

The deputy Alfredo Antoine who opened the debates of the day refused to give the floor to the deputies interpellators, Gary Bodeau asked security to intervene... Deputy Alfredo Antoine attacked the sound system of the Chamber of Deputies... e first asked the presentation of the report of the Court of Accounts on the situation of the four ministers having no discharge.

"President us the deputies interpellators on their behalf I ask the Bureau to take note that the government violated the constitution when it appointed 5 individuals, 5 intruders, without title and quality and who have already committed funds from the public administration, since there can be no debate on the constitution, I do not see as a worthy representative of Petit-Goâve and spokesperson for colleagues interpellators that I can expose the act of interpellation while we are already in violation of the constitution. If there is already a violation of the constitution we first ask to the bureau to decide before we can move on."

After 14 months of governance, the deputies interpellators found nothing good in the balance of the Prime Minister. The deputy Lumérant (Grand-Goâve) described the balance of the government sent to Parliament as a collections of poetry.

The deputies close to the power have for their part required the respect of the procedures. According to them, the session of the day is programmed in the margin of the law, and solicited and obtained a suspension of session of 10 minutes.

"Before coming here, I handed over my letter of resignation to the President of the Republic, and he accepted it," the PM told the deputies.

Shortly before 4 pm, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant handed his resignation to parliament.

"I took note of the resignation of Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant and I ask President Moïse to choose a Prime Minister of consensus taking into account the aspirations of all sectors of national life," said Gary Bodeau.
