Speech of President Jovenel Moïse : "After the well-deserved vacation of the past judicial year, it is time to resume work for the year 2018-2019. Every year at the same time, to satisfy a formal requirement, the judiciary power proceeds to the ostentatious and solemn opening of the Courts and Tribunals of the Republic which operate from the first Monday of October to the last Friday of July. I am pleased, in my capacity as Head of State, to speak at this reopening ceremony to which were invited all the actors evolving from near or far in the field of justice. The solemnity of this activity, which is very important for professionals in the judiciary and the law, is a highlight for litigants who are waiting for the distribution of justice. Yes, we need justice to consolidate the foundation of our nascent democracy and right the wrongs and injustice done to our fellow citizens. Justice is done for men and not men for justice.
