USA ready to participate in relief efforts
The United States expresses its condolences and support to all of those in Haiti affected by the earthquake that struck the Artibonite, North and Northwest Departments on October 6. We continue to closely monitor the situation. The United States and Haiti are strategic partners and friends, and we stand ready to assist in the relief effort, if requested.

PNH received instructions for...
The National Police of Haiti (PNH) has received instructions to stop vehicles carrying humanitarian aid to earthquake victims without proper written authorization from the Haitian Civil Protection Directorate, a government decision.

Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding
Joseph Jouthe, the Minister of the Environment and the Haitian Red Cross Representative Dr. Jean Pierre Guiteau have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen the resilience of communities on programs related to integrated risk management, by setting innovative mechanisms to prevent and mitigate humanitarian challenges caused by climate change.

Platform to Fight Corruption
Jean Wilfrid Bertrand, the Director General of the National Archives of Haiti, announces the forthcoming creation of a communication platform that will facilitate the sharing of information between the National Identification Office, the General Tax Directorate and commercial banks, to fight corruption.

International Day of Rural Women
The International Day of Rural Women (since 2012) formerly International Day of Peasant Women, will be commemorated on October 15 in Haiti.

«Black and Proud»
"Black and proud" (Noir et fier), is the name of a new movement launched Friday, October 5, 2018, in Port-au-Prince by a group of citizens in order to raise the awareness of women and men of dark complexion to the harmful consequences of the depigmentation on their health.

Following the earthquake on Saturday evening, the President Michel Martelly and former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe expressed themselves :

Haiti, my own and native land, struck again with a terrible earthquake. Families of victims and Haitian people, I send you my wholehearted solidarity and that of the whole Francophone family, now gathered in Yerevan for the upcoming Summit of La Francophonie," Michaëlle Jean, Secretary General of La Francophonie.
