Haiti - Sports : Towards the launch of the 2019 school games
Thursday, November 29 at the Croix-des-Bouquets Ranch, Edwing Charles the Minister of Youth and Sports met various sports actors in order to involve them in the organization of the next school sports games 2019.

The determination to help young people in the country in the practice of sport, motivated the representatives of different disciplines and sports entities to respond positively to the call of the Minister to discuss the organization of these competitions and learn about the measures taken for the holding of standardized School Sport Games in the different geographical departments of the country.

Recall that for several months, these school games will allow thousands of schoolchildren to enjoy healthy entertainment and to compete in various physical and brain sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, judo, checkers and chess.

These games, which will take place in the ten departments including 16 administrative regions, will include three major moments: a communal phase (local), a regional phase (departmental) and a national phase.

Minister Charles stressed the importance of these games for young people and announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education to implement the return of the sporting practice in the schools affirming "It helps and animates children to better adapt to educational activities. Hence the need for the two ministries to associate to supervise young people."

For the Minister, these games which will be launched on January 18, 2019 at Parc Sainte-Thérèse de Pétion-ville with the participation of more than 3,000 students, must take place in a climate of non-violence and arouse, among others responsible behavior and the sense of solidarity among young people.
