Haiti - Elections : Speech of Michel Martelly 05/04/2011 16:48:40
I am here with you to this exceptional event, touched and proud, proud to be called to the service of this corner of land where I'm born, who cherished me beyond all my hopes and that I like passionately. Yes, Haitian people you believed in me and you have showered me with honor, me the bad boy (enfant terrible) by considering me worthy to represent and lead to good port what we have in common of most precious, Haiti. To all of you from the depths of my heart, thank you. To my partisans, my friends, my family my deep gratitude for having supported me, understood and respected, to those millions of young, backbone of my campaign, I repeat my immense affection and brotherly to Mrs. Mirlande Hyppolite Manigat and to those who recognized themselves in his project, I express my deepest respect, because beyond our differences and our divergences, we live the same dream, the same reasoning leads us, Haiti. Haiti more beautiful, Haiti more just, Haiti regenerated. I will be the president of all Haitians without exclusions, together we will walk together for the flag to the Fatherland. Together we will dig with joy for a prosperous Haiti. Haitian, the big winners, remains : Haiti, the democracy and the public liberties. A Haiti to to rebuild, a democracy to strengthen. You have chosen to break with our old quarrels, our artificial divisions, the prevailing negativism. You wanted change, you voted for change, change in our political, our economic choices, in our social organization. It is the very clearly mission that you gave me. The mandate given, I want to tell you that the mission will be accomplished and the mandate respected. Politically free, I lets to the past the old demons of the Haitian politics to watch the future, with all the political forces which want privileged Haiti initially and adhere to a rule of law. I also want that each of you, know that my presidency will be the guardian of institutions, but more importantly, I will ensure their smooth operation so that they assume their responsibilities and allow that my promises come true in terms of job creation, access to education, health and justice for all. That those who suffer in their flesh and spirit, those that the injustice of Men or the vagaries of life have degraded and bruised, they must regain courage. The thing will change. That these millions of young and old of the ten geographical departments of which I crossed the glance without hope for better tomorrow, that they throw the eyes towards the rainbow of the promised change, of change voted, therefore, of change due. Than those in the diaspora who desire to return home but who are afraid that they are assured that the "Kay pral bon." To the international community, united to support the electoral process and enable the respect of Haitian people, a solemn thank you. I hope that together we will work for the happiness of Haiti, my country, your partner and friend. Haitian people, a new era is coming, I am committed with the grace of God and the support of each of you to make the most beautiful page of my life. Vive Haiti ! Vive the rule of law !
