Haiti - Agriculture : Towards increased cooperation with Morocco
On the sidelines of the 161st meeting of the Council of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome (8-12 April 2019), Jobert C. Angrand, the outgoing Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, met with the Ambassador of Morocco accredited in Italy and former Minister of Agriculture, Hassand Abouyoub.

The objective was to follow up on the talks initiated during the recent mission on cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and Haiti, especially in the field of agriculture.

In particular, there was talk of training Haitian executives in agricultural credit in which Morocco has developed good expertise. At the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 10 Haitian executives will participate in training to learn from the experience of Morocco which was able, through strategies ensure national coverage in terms of agricultural credit to meet the demands of farmers.

At the request of the Minister Angrand, he also made proposals for the purchase of fertilizer from Morocco. Modalities will be submitted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Foreign Trade of Morocco via the Embassy of Haiti in Italy. Jobert C. Angrand explained that it was imperative that Haiti buys sufficient quality fertilizer for the coming crop years.

Ambassador Hassand Abouyoub believes that this partnership will be beneficial for both countries.
