Haiti - FLASH : Small results for Sénatus in the case of phone calls with Arnel
Tuesday at a press conference, Senator Jean Renel Sénatus, after announcing the day before that he was going to unveil the list of names of politicians and the private sector (entrepreneurs political leaders and parliamentarians...) having had regular telephone contacts with the Chief of Gang Arnel, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27597-haiti-flash-senatus-promises-to-publish-the-names-of-people-in-contact-with-arnel.html disclosed only 3 names, the only ones that the Senate Committee Justice and Public Security could identify, including Senator Garcia Delva.

These are the former Prime Minister Jean Henry Céant and Vladimir Jean Louis, a close security agent of the former President Joseph Michel Martelly, on more than 585 pages of telephone records... to say that the announcements of Sénatus were disproportionate to the meager results published.

This investigation covers calls made on the telephone number of Gang leader Arnel Joseph from January 15 to March 1, 2019. Sénatus confirmed that the Commissioners are unaware of the contents of these conversations that are the responsibility of the courts and that would be in the hands of the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ). Therefore, in addition to speculation, neither Sénatus nor the Commission can say that it was the substance of his conversations.

Jean Renel Sénatus indicates that Jean Henry Céant, contacted by the Commission, confirmed having communicated with Arnel, but that once informed that he was a gang leader, he had ceased all contact. According to Céant, at the time Arnel was seeking funding for various rehabilitation and infrastructure works in the village of Dieu.

Vladimir Jean Louis, one of the bodyguards in function to former President Martelly made a total of 28 phone calls with Arnel Joseph. Contacted by the Commission, he acknowledged that this was his telephone number and said he was willing, if necessary, to answer questions of justice about the content of his conversations.
