Haiti - Japan : Launch of the Solid Waste Management System Strengthening Project
Tuesday, Joseph Jouthe, Minister of the Environment in the presence of Fernando Hiraldo, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Haiti and Mitsuaki Mizuno Ambassador of Japan accredited Haiti proceeded to the launch of Solid Waste Management System Strengthening Project in the country

This project, carried out in partnership with the UNDP and the Japanese cooperation for a period of 5 years, aims on the one hand to technically support the Ministry for the definition of a sustainable solid waste management strategy on the basis of the legal framework in force and secondly, to support the municipalities of Ouanaminthe, Mirebalais and Jérémie in Solid Waste Management.

Funded by the Government of Japan, the implementation of the project to strengthen the solid waste management system in Haiti, will contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the targeted populations throughout the national territory through appropriate management of solid waste. It will adopt a multidimensional approach based on better environmental management and the equitable integration of women and men in planning and decision-making that can contribute to the improvement of living conditions.
