Haiti - FLASH politic : The opening of Parliament is postponed 25/04/2011 16:01:14 On request of President of the Republic René Préval, the Organization of American States (OAS) began on Monday an evaluation of the results questionable. Nineteen seats are concerned, 18 deputies and 1 senator were announced elected by the Electoral Council in the second round, while the preliminary results had classified them to the second or third position. This therefore requires that Parliament delays its work," said Kelly Bastien, the President of the Senate. Colin Granderson, the head of the Joint OAS/CARICOM Electoral Observation Mission (JEOM) announced to be aware that time is short, but it is necessary to shed light on these results which are for the moment unexplainable. Parliament expects that the JEOM gives its opinion on the nineteen controversial cases before setting a new date. UPDATE : According the information that we have, it seems that an inaugural session in presence of Deputies is currently held, in the new provisional premises of Haitian parliament located at Bicentenaire, and tomorrow a session attended by Senators should take place.
