Haiti - FLASH : Towards an interim government of exception ?
On Sunday evening, President Jovenel Moïse met with the Presidents of both Houses of Parliament to discuss the choice of the Prime Minister and the formation of a new interim government.

Gary Bodeau Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies confirmed Sunday "The Presidents of the two branches of parliament meet with Head of State Jovenel Moïse tonight, around the choice of a new PM and the formation of an Interim Government of exception able to answer the concerns of the hour."

On his side Pierre Adler, Assistant and Head of Communication of the President of the Senate, Dr. Carl Murat Cantave confirmed this appointment "The President of the Senate, the Honorable Carl Murat Cantave and that of the Chamber of Deputies meet this Sunday evening the President of the Republic Jovenel Moïse around the Prime Minister's choice. The country needs a new government to face the challenges of the day."

No information has filtered through these discussions, nor has any name been quoted Sunday in view of the formation of a new government. What we know from generally well-informed sources is that the opposition will have its representatives in the new team. The Head of State would have obtained the participation of the moderate opposition, but would like to include representatives of the radical opposition.

On the presence of representatives of the tough wing of the opposition, nothing is less certain Me André Michel, the spokesman of the radical opposition Movement called "Democratic and Popular Sector" said "I learned that President Moïse decided to meet this Sunday the Presidents of the 2 Chambers in the perspective of the appointment of a Prime Minister for the formation of a new Government. This approach does not correspond to the popular dynamics underway in the country. It is politically suicidal and morally unacceptable for respectable opposition leaders to accept any cohabitation with Jovenel within any government."

Nevertheless, according to several sources, discussions are underway with some representatives of the radical opposition.

Regarding the Prime Minister, Jovenel Moses would have approached two former ministers, a man and a woman, to propose to them to become Head of Government if the candidacy of Jean-Michel Lapin failed. For his part, the appointed Prime Minister who claims to have the confidence of the President, and would not expect to withdraw without a vote of censure of its General Policy by the Parliament, but he would be open to reshuffle members of his resigning cabinet. According to our sources the ministerial cabinet would be deeply reworked, many ministers should be replaced by other personalities from different socio-political and economic sectors of the country.

Last minute : A new meeting at the Palace is planned this Monday, July 22, between Jovenel Moïse and the presidents of the two Houses of Parliament for the choice of a Prime Minister around a list of 7 personalities of which among others : Uder Antoine, Alfred Metellus and Fritz-William Michel.
