Haiti - FLASH : A bus attacked, 49 passengers taken hostage
A bus "God who decides" with 49 passengers, ensuring the route Port-au-Prince-Jeremie (Dept. of Grand'Anse) was intercepted at the dangerous slum Village de Dieu (former stronghold of Arnel), by heavily armed men who forced the driver under threat to stop on the side of the road.

These bandits then robbed all passengers and seized their luggage before demanding a large sum of money to hand over the bus and let the driver and the passengers go, threatening to kill the hostages if they did not get not satisfied.

After hours of negotiations the passengers were released one by one, confirmed Jean Renel Dorcéna members of the National Disarmament Commission who played an important role in the negotiations leading to the release of the passengers...

The bus owner indicated that he had alerted the police but did not know what they were going to do or whether he would have to negotiate with the bandits saying they were holding the driver under hostage and require a very heavy ransom against his release otherwise they threaten to execute him...

The hijacked bus would still be in their possession and the situation remains tense.
