Haiti - Politic : The sanitation of Port-au-Prince on the agenda of the Minister of the Interior
Wednesday Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet teh acting Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), accompanied notably by his Director of Cabinet, the Director General Amos Zéphirin as well as the Director of the Territorial Collectivities, met with Ralph Youri Chevry, the Mayor of Port-au-Prince who was accompanied by his Director General.

As part of this working meeting, the conditions of operation of the Town Hall and the provisions to be adopted to address the issue of insalubrity found in the capital were the focus of discussions.

In the perspective of cleaning up the metropolitan area and contributing to the strengthening of the capacities of the Town Hall, various actions are envisaged. To respond to a request from Mayor Chevry, the State through the Ministry, will deliver, without delay, 3 additional trucks, which will be added to the fleet of compressors, tipper trucks and loaders already available to this municipality.

In addition, a more substantial State support will also be granted to the Town Hall through the MICT, on the basis of the presentation of the most urgent and necessary needs to achieve the objectives set.

At the end of this session, Minister Cadet and Mayor Chevry were delighted by the quality of the exchanges which proved fruitful and cordial. Cadet also pledged his collaboration and that of his entire team to ensure the effectiveness of the measures adopted to clean up the metropolitan area as quickly as possible.

A new working meeting has been scheduled to harmonize the actions and logistics of the security institutions and of the National Solid Waste Management Service (SNGRS), in particular, in support of the work of the Town Hall.
