Haiti - FLASH : Vandalism and violence, the manifest opposition against international interference 07/12/2019 08:13:48 Despite a large police force and a relatively weak mobilization, several private and public transport vehicles were vandalized on the passage of demonstrators, many of whom were masked. Stones were thrown at businesses and private companies, tires were ignited and a cement truck was set on fire at the Airport Road as protesters headed for the US Embassy in Tabarre. Several leaders of the radical opposition (Nènel Cassy and Me André Michel among others) were seen during this event. Protesters outside the US Embassy clashed with a barrage of agents from the Intervention and Maintenance Corps (CIMO) who responded with heavy use of tear gas to disperse the protesters. One person was shot and injured at the Carrefour de l'Aéroport (unconfirmed official information). Finally, the opposition, heavily surrounded by helmeted policemen, armed with bullet-proof vests and shields, delivered a message to the US Embassy which in summary reaffirms their position : no dialogue, no negotiation, no cohabitation with President Jovenel Moïse but only his unconditional resignation.
