Haiti - Politic : Less than 24 hours before the inauguration of Martelly 13/05/2011 17:09:21 According to Fritz Jean-Louis, member of the transition office responsible for the transmission of power between the outgoing President and his successor, a dozen of foreign heads of state should attend the inauguration of Martelly, there will be 2,500 guests, including 150 foreign dignitaries. For the moment the United States have confirmed the presence of the Honorable William Jefferson Clinton, 42nd President of the United States of America and Co President of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission, who will lead the delegation. And as members of the presidential delegation will be present, the Honorable Kenneth H. Merten, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Haiti and Mr. Thomas C. Adams, Haiti Special Coordinator, Department of State. Argentina announced that the Provisional President of the Senate, José Pampuro, will represent the Government of Argentina and will be the highest authority of that country present at the act transfer of power. Spain will be represented by Soraya Rodríguez, Secretary of State for International Cooperation. France will be represented by the French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Alain Juppé. The Dominican Republic by the President Leonel Fernández. Ikuo Yamahana, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will attend the inauguration ceremony as an Ambassador on Special Mission of the Government of Japan. For Europe, Mr. Christian Leffler, executive director of the European External Action Service for the Americas, will represent the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the european Commission, Mrs Catherine Ashton. For UNESCO, Michaelle Jean, the special envoy of Unesco for Haiti and former Governor General of Canada will attend the inauguration ceremony. The UN delegation will be headed by the Deputy Secretary-General, Asha-Rose Migiro, and will also include the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Alain Le Roy, and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Associate Administrator, Rebecca Grynspan. Many ambassadors accredited in Haiti, politicians, church representatives, of the cultural community, men and women from the business sector... should attend the ceremonies. On the other hand, the outgoing President René Préval signed one of the last arrest of his mandate declaring Saturday, May 14 public holiday, the public services, schools, commerce and industry will therefore be closed tomorrow. According to the Miami Herald activities related to the preparation and realization of the ceremonies would have cost nearly $ 4.5 million, but for his part Fritz Jean-Louis indicates that "the sum of US$2 million has been disbursed."
