Haiti - Diplomacy : End of year greetings from the Ambassador of Haiti to Canada
During this end-of-year period, the Ambassador of Haiti to Canada Frantz Liautaud and his wife Florence delivered a message on Friday to the large Haitian community in the diaspora and to the compatriots of the Motherland, which we invite you to share :

Message from the Ambassador of Haiti

"Dear friends of the Haitian community in the federal capital region, of Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, all the provinces and territories of this beautiful and welcoming country that is Canada.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Haiti, the staff of the Mission, my wife and on my own behalf, I extend to you my most sincere wishes for Christmas and the New Year, extended to your precious families. To each and every one of you, I sincerely wish : Health, Happiness, Prosperity.

Once again, the world closes the page of a year without having been right about the crises and the multiple conflicts which upset it. A rise of blind nationalism, south of our latitude but also from east to west, on all continents in short, shakes the fragile balance and the dream of harmony between the peoples of the earth. The great powers seem incapable of finding a lasting solution to the devastating effects of climate change which endangers our planet.

Here in Canada, the democratic game was expressed again in 2019. We sincerely hope that this stable country which shelters us, continues to play the role of unifier and apostle of peace which has characterized it for decades.

Nationally, our old demons are struggling to exacerbating our divisions. Our dear country seems trapped in a chronic inability to place the common good above everything. May a burst of patriotism and reason make us discover the benefits of living together : an obligatory path leading to political stability, human development, modernity and socioeconomic and cultural progress in our country. Thus, will we have deserved from the Fatherland…

Dear Compatriots,

I absolutely want to express to you the pride I feel in paying tribute to all Canadians of Haitian origin who have distinguished themselves, in one way or another, during the year 2019 in Canada in different fields: federal, provincial, municipal and university. By their knowledge, their competence, these elite compatriots arouse positive looks on the Haitian fact, seen from the outside. Their star marks the way for a better future in a rediscovered Haiti.

This January 1, 2020, the Republic of Haiti commemorates the 216th anniversary of its Independence. Let us form with one voice the patriotic vow that the spirit of Christmas and New Year will enlighten and inspire us so that together and in serenity, we will find the path to progress, prosperity and social justice, in a Republic of Haiti reconciled with itself ..

It is on this note that I sincerely renew to all of you, my wishes for a year fulfilled in all respects, filled with Joy, Health and Prosperity.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, DEAR FRIENDS !

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 to our dear country !

Ottawa, December 19, 2019."
