Haiti - PAPJazz 2020 : An exceptional poster, 8 days of celebration
With the political and social situation, the preparations for the 14th Edition of the International Jazz Festival of Port-au-Prince, which will take place from January 18 to 25, 2020 under the high patronage of the Ministry of Culture, have been much more complex to implement this year, the programming schedule has been reviewed 12 times, the spaces of the free stages have been modified several times, partner embassies have withdrawn, several sponsors from the private sector, out of breath had to give up their participation or have reduced the support, fortunately others on the contrary have made themselves known and will be on the road with the Festival.

PAPJazz 2020 returns for 8 days of celebration, forty concerts, mostly free, and ten workshops, not to mention the "After Hours" which are very popular with festival-goers.

An exceptional poster with the participation of 15 countries : Germany, Belgium, Canada (guest of honor), Cuba, United States, France, Great Britain, Guadeloupe, Israel, Martinique, Haiti, Netherlands, Dominican Republic, Switzerland and Taiwan.

Artists from Haiti and abroad will be meeting headliners such as the unmissable Dee Dee Bridgewater, recipient of 3 Grammy Awards, the legendary American a cappella group Take 6 recipient of 10 Grammy, Dawn Tyler Watson, a Canadian blues singer who will undoubtedly set the mood, the German-Liberian Pat Appleton and his resolutely modern jazz, the young American smooth jazz saxophonist Jazmin Ghent, the Guadeloupe saxophonist Jacques Schwarz-Bart accompanied by the Haitian-American Elizabeth Charles.

The festival this year is under the sign of creations and returns, with in particular Yilian Canizares Cuban-Swiss singer who will present his new project ERZULIE of Haitian inspiration and will be accompanied by Paul Beaubrun, or Mario Canonge our favorite pianist Martinique who will play with Annick Tangorra, Ralph Thamar, and Michel Alibo.

BélO will present his new album, James Germain will invite the singer Malou Beauvoir and the Canadian trumpet player Rachel Therrien and we will also discover the Azuei project, a Haitian-Dominican musical movement without forgetting a first participation of a musical ensemble from Taiwan "Ensemble Yu" and the great representative of Rasin music, Eddy François and Boukan Ginen.

In terms of creations, the Festival will welcome the "Encuentro" project which brings together Réginald Policard and the Cuban Alejandro Falcon, the exceptional piano duo with Mushy Widmaier and Mike Del Ferro from the Netherlands, the "HAITIZRAEL" project which unites on stage the Israeli Yogev Shetrit (also back) and Haitian musicians and finally the project "Haiti Gospel Jazz" orchestrated by Gérald Kebreau, with the voices of the talented evangelical singers Wiliadel Denervil and Taliana Lindor.

The next generation of the Haitian music industry will be represented by Jazz and Family, Hans Berry, the young Slooze, Sarah Jane Rameaux with her new album, Danola, the revelation of the year for Ticket magazine and Richecard Ciné by Jacmel as well as the musicians participants in the Discovery Scene.
