Haiti - Social : Over 90% of Haitians controlled in DR are in an irregular migration situation 07/02/2020 10:46:29
The operations were carried out by teams made up of inspectors, agents of the DGM with the support of the military, the Dominican National Police and CESTUR in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Provinces concerned in the provinces: Azua, La Altagracia (Higuey), Dajabón, Espaillat, Montecristi, San José de Ocoa, Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan de la Maguana and Valverde, and in various sectors of the national district and the municipalities of Santo-Domingo East and West. Among the places with the largest number of Haitians controlled are the National District, (353); Santiago de los Caballeros (531); Valverde (381); Santiago Rodríguez (112) and Azua (124) After verification using biometric readers and the central database of the DGM, 2,589 Haitians (91.7%) were declared in an irregular or paperless migration situation and taken back to the border posts of Dajabón, Jimaní and Elías Piña, to be registered and deported to Haiti.
