Haiti - NOTICE : Closings of the sand quarries at Morne à Cabris 16/06/2020 10:40:53
Remember that the quarries of Morne à Cabri were already banned in January 2018 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23300-haiti-notice-suspension-of-extraction-of-sand-at-the-morne-cabri.html The purpose of this closure is to curb the anarchic and abusive exploitation of the sites in question, which endangers the lives of workers, the environment, the electricity pylons and the National Road number 3 among others... The Minister Septembre, specifies that the General Direction of the National Agency of Protected Areas (ANAP) is authorized to deploy agents of the Brigade of Surveillance of Protected Areas (BSAP) on the sites concerned in Morne à Cabris in order to enforce this State decision. Entrepreneurs who operate the sand quarries at Morne à Cabri are invited to collaborate and fully respect this closure measure, which takes effect from Monday, June 15, 2020, from 11:00 am. They are also invited to contact the either of the two ministries from June 19, 2020, for matters that concern them.
