Friday, July 31 the man of the theater and career journalist, icon of the Haitian press, Anthony Pascal aka "Konpè Filo" died at the age of 67 (March 11, 1953) following a heart attack during his transfer to Mirebalais university hospital

In a note, Pradel Henriquez, the Minister of Culture said to have learned "with emotion, the sad news of the death of Anthony Pascal", said Konpè Filo, which occurred this Friday, July 31, 2020.

"[...] The host of the TV show 'Kalfou' on Télé Ginen always fought to defend the values of our culture in particular. The main objective of this program was, in fact, to awaken the consciousness of young people by promoting the meeting of different generations.

Of all the contemporary history of the press in Haiti from before Duvalier, 1986 to the present day, "Konpè Filo" remained until his death, one of the most worthy, the most humble and the most incorruptible journalists. .

"Konpè Filo" left, leaving behind a whole Nation in pain and sadness. The Ministry salutes this Mapou who has rendered service to the Nation [...]"

Minister Pradel Henriquez "expresses his sympathies to his family, to the Director General, Jean Lucien Borges, to the entire Radio Télé Ginen team and to all the Haitian press mourned by this mourning."

Reacting to this sad disappearance, President Jovenel Moïse declared "A mapou has fallen, and pain is felt in all the lakous. “Konpè Filo”, whose real name is Anthony Pascal, has passed away. We are losing a great promoter of our culture. I bow to his remains and offer my sympathies to his family and fellow travelers."
