Haiti - Politic : EDH raises its tone against electricity thieves
In a note, the Directorate General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH) announces a set of measures already in force to fight against people who hijack power lines.

Note from EDH :

"With the idea of strengthening the distribution of electrical energy and protecting the employees of the EDH who work on the lines, the EDH informs the population in general and all those who divert the electrical lines under the pretext that these lines have more current, that a set of measures have already started to be applied :

- The EDH will prosecute all people, both 'raketè', as accomplices, or beneficiaries according to the law;

- The EDH will reconnect all these people on the line to which they were connected previously;

- In case of reconnection on their part, the EDH will take all measures to destroy the illegal line, with the assistance of the justice, the police, and will seize all the equipment and prosecute the offenders who will have to pay a fine according to the decree of February 3, 2016, which punishes the theft of electricity and which sanctions with the arrest, compensation and imprisonment all those who carry out these illegal acts.

The General Directorate is asking for the help of the population to help them fight this old practice."
