Haiti - Education : Haitian-French Cooperation
Cooperation issues between France and Haiti in education were recently at the center of a meeting between Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, Minister of National Education accompanied by his Chief of Staff Jackson Pléteau and the Ambassador of France accredited in Haiti José Gomez who was accompanied by Gaêlle Lettilly, Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), Pascal Majoali, Advisor for cooperation and cultural action and Tanguy Abittan Educational mission officer.

Teacher training, support at the level of higher education, the implementation of the New Citizen Education Turned to the Future NECTAR project, funded by France, which should contribute to curriculum reform are among the major cooperation projects discussed during this meeting.

Minister Cadet insisted on the importance of the NECTAR project and on the need for good project management in order to achieve the expected results. In addition, he underlined the interest which he attaches to the training of teachers.

Ambassador Gomez welcomed this dynamic partnership and praised Minister Cadet's determination to advance the educational machine. He took the opportunity to stress that he was listening to the Minister of National Education for the needs of the sector. In addition, he referred to the study in progress with a view to launching a major training project for educational agents taking into account the initial and continuing training of teachers.

At the end of this fruitful meeting, the heads of the two institutions reiterated their commitment to the education partnership between France and Haiti.
