Haiti - FLASH : The Government officially declares War on gangs
Thursday heavily armed individuals claiming to belong to the coalition of gangs called "G9 fanmi and allies", attacked two patrols of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), a specialized unit of the "Swat Team" in Village de Dieu (Bicentenaire), another administrative police patrol in Delmas and the police station located in Grande Ravine (Martissant).

Bursts of automatic weapons were heard in the bicentennial area during the day and several testimonies from residents report injuries, which no official report has yet confirmed or denied.

Reacting to these attacks, Prime Minister Jouthe indicated that the police took these attacks very seriously and that they would not remain without a reaction "As for the bandits, we are declaring war on them at the level of the Government" while wishing that there are no collateral victims, he asks the population to remain vigilant and cautious and not to stay in the shooting zones because the police will react by threatening "In War as in War."
