Haiti - Bahamas : 74 Haitians in an irregular migratory situation repatriated
74 Haitians (57 men, 13 women and 4 minors) were repatriated to Haiti in Port-au-Prince, via Bahamasair shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Monday January 4, the Bahamas Ministry of Immigration confirmed.

Of this group, 53 Haitians were apprehended on Andros (the largest island in the Bahamas archipelago) and the other 21 were among those apprehended on Long Island during the holiday season.

This repatriation was led by Vonetta Darling-Flowers, Senior Immigration Officer and a team of eight officers from the Immigration Department's Law Enforcement Unit,

The Immigration Department has reminded Bahamians that it is committed to combating illegal migration and that anyone who harbors or assists illegal aliens is an offense punishable by a fine of US$20,000 or a prison sentence of 4 years or both, according to the revised Immigration Ordinance 2018.
