Haiti - FLASH : 117 kidnappings in September up 277%
Kidnappings, which have become daily, affect men, women and children without distinction, regardless of their age or social category, have become a source of funding for armed gangs in Haiti today.

The Crime Observation Unit of the Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights (CARDH) informs us that for the months of July, August and September 2021 221 kidnappings were recorded (31 in July, 73 in August and 117 in September) an increase of almost 277% in 3 months



From January to September 2021, 628 kidnappings were recorded, including 29 foreign nationals from three countries . A figure that indicates how much the kidnapping phenomenon is growing.

In addition, since the third week of May 2021, the "400 Marozo" gang has started to practice collective kidnappings (public transport vehicles or private cars with passengers) and this type of kidnapping already represents 5% of all kidnappings reported cases, according to the report : at least 50 people for the second half of May and 100 for the month of June.
