Haiti - Politic : Urgent Appeal of Catholic Bishops as February 7 approaches
A few days before February 7, 2022, end of the official mandate of the late President Jovenl Moïse assassinated on July 7, 2021 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34162-haiti-flash-president-jovenel-moise-assassinated-by-mercenaries-official-updated-7am-+-video.html , the Episcopal Conference of Haiti in a note addressed to political actors, calls for courageous decisions to be taken at this irreversible turning point in history of our country.

Excerpts from the note of the Catholic Bishops of Haiti :
"The hour we are living in is extremely serious and particularly decisive at this irreversible turning point in our history. What is at stake, is our present and our future, and therefore our very existence as a People, as a Nation, as a State. We must therefore take the necessary courageous decisions.

[...]

The time is no longer for division, disunity, disagreement, discord, fratricidal struggles for power and the unbridled and shameless pursuit of selfish and petty personal interests.

It is time for unity, for the union that is strength, for the pooling of our ideas and our efforts, for the national and patriotic consensus to finally get our country out of the deep crisis that has been going on for far too long. a long time and which seriously threatens its very existence.

[...]

Faced with the dramatic situation in which our dear country is plunged, we, the Catholic Bishops of Haiti, address once again an urgent appeal to all the protagonists who are on the socio-political scene so that they find together the most possible that could lead to a definitive exit from the crisis, with a view to the reconquest of our sovereignty and the recovery of Haiti.

We invite and encourage all sectors and all social, economic and political actors in national life to resolutely renounce their privileges in order to save the common good and preserve the integrity of the homeland in danger. We urge them to work together, in synergy, to build a solid and bright future for Haiti and its daughters and sons.

Haitians, we must combine all our forces, our energies, our intelligence, our resources and work together so that February 7 is a day of dialogue, consensus and historic compromise aimed at the unity of our people, the safeguard and the transformation of our country which is on the edge of the abyss. Haitians, let's put the supreme good of the Nation above any other personal interest to prevent our country from sinking into total chaos.

[...]

At this particularly dangerous and disturbing crossroads in our history, we pray that God will help us to spare us the worst. May Mother Mary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, intervene by the omnipotence of her intercession to free Haiti from all the diseases that are eating her !"
