Haiti - Politic : The Senate requests the delivery of the presidential sash on February 7 05/02/2022 09:12:28 Excerpts from Senate correspondence : "Considering that the Superior Council of the Judiciary, the umbrella institution of the Judiciary, and therefore co-depositary of national sovereignty, cannot take action on political disputes, as in fact, it will not pronounce on the political crisis which strikes the country only if the social and political organizations recognized as such, protagonists in order to resolve the post-February 7 crisis, request it; Considering the call for dialogue, consultation and consensus launched by the various sectors of the Nation and, recently, by the Episcopal Conference of the Catholic Church, on February 4; Considering the meeting of the Senate of the Republic with the de facto Prime Minister, Dr. Ariel GHenry, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022; 1 - The Senate of the Republic, co-depositary of national sovereignty recognizes and takes note in an indisputable and uncontested manner of the end of the mandate of President Jovenel Moïse on February 7, 2022; 2 - The presidential sash will be delivered to the Senate of the Republic by the General Secretariat of the National Palace to be transmitted to the National Pantheon Museum according to the wishes of the law on the ceremonies of delivery and handing over of the presidential sash; 3 - The de facto Government led by the de facto Prime Minister, Dr. Ariel Henry, is therefore liquidating current affairs while waiting for a broad consensus to emerge between the political actors and those of civil society, protagonists of the well-known political agreements, aimed at offering the Nation a way out of the crisis; 4 - The Senate of the Republic in the meantime, invites the Prime Minister in place, Dr Ariel Henry, the Superior Council of the Judiciary and the various political poles mentioned above to an extraordinary summit in order to identify the prospects for a rapid return to institutional normalcy through mechanisms established in the Haitian-Haitian Global Consensus Act; 5 - The office of the Senate of the Republic is mandated to initiate all the consultations deemed useful in order to achieve, in the short term, the holding of this summit."
